This CLE course provides an introduction to international arbitration focusing on the legal framework that governs it in the United States. It will cover the fundamentals of international arbitration, including how the process works, and the laws and treaties that govern it, with particular attention to the framework that applies to international arbitrations seated in the United States. The course will also address the recognition and enforcement of international arbitral awards.

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to identify the sources of law that govern arbitrations seated in the United States, anticipate the procedural issues that most frequently arise in practice, and explain how U.S. courts approach the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards.
