About This Course
This CLE program examines the immigration consequences that arise in corporate mergers, stock or asset acquisitions, joint ventures, and internal restructurings. U S employers engaged in these transactions must address the continued maintenance of work authorization for foreign national employees, the preservation of petition validity, and the potential successor in interest obligations created under federal immigration law.
The session guides participants through the principal regulatory frameworks that govern these situations and offers practical strategies for counsel who support transactional teams. Emphasis is placed on early due diligence, document review, risk identification, and post closing compliance planning.
The material is intended for corporate attorneys, in house counsel, human resources professionals, and immigration practitioners who wish to strengthen their understanding of how immigration issues can affect or even delay a transaction. Real world scenarios, checklists, and model language for due diligence requests are included.
