About This Course
Asset protection is rarely about a single trust, LLC, insurance policy, or exemption. Effective planning requires lawyers to understand how multiple legal and practical protections work together—and where each one can fail. The 8 Layers of Asset Protection presents a systematic framework for evaluating a client’s exposure and building a coordinated defense, beginning with risk avoidance and insurance and progressing through entity structuring, state and federal creditor protections, ownership strategies, and domestic and international asset protection trusts.
Through practical examples, attendees will learn how to identify vulnerabilities, distinguish inside from outside liability, evaluate the appropriate level of planning for a client, and recognize the critical ethical and fraudulent-transfer limitations that make asset protection a discipline of advance planning rather than emergency planning.
