About This Course

On September 25, 2012, the Department of Motor Vehicles published new regulations that dramatically increased the penalties for people convicted of Driving While Intoxicated. They did this by creating “waiting periods” for people applying for relicensure who had served their statutory revocation. Essentially, some motorists will be required to wait an additional 5 years beyond the revocation mandated by statute, depending on how many convictions they have in the previous 25 years. Other motorists will be barred from ever again being relicensed even though they were eligible for relicensure prior to the enactment of these regulations. Is the client that you are presently representing at risk? Can you take what appears to be a favorable plea bargain, or will it have dramatic consequences for your client? This CLE program will explain these new regulations and show you how to evaluate your client's case in light of these dramatic changes.
