About This Course
Trade associations provide valuable opportunities for collaboration and industry advancement, but their activities must be carefully managed to avoid antitrust risks. This CLE program examines the unique antitrust challenges facing associations, which often bring competitors and potential competitors together through meetings, committees, and shared initiatives. Participants will explore the foundations of antitrust law, including the Sherman Act, Clayton Act, Robinson-Patman Act, Federal Trade Commission Act, and state antitrust laws, as well as the potential civil, criminal, and reputational consequences of violations.
The program will provide practical guidance on antitrust compliance best practices, including effective meeting procedures, the use of agendas and minutes, implementation of antitrust guidelines, and the role of legal counsel. Attendees will learn how to identify risk, protect their organizations and leaders, and promote lawful competition while fulfilling the mission of their associations.
