About This Course
For the past 25 years, HIPAA has been synonymous with a patient's privacy and security of his/her medical records. One area that has been on OCR's enforcement radar for the past few years is the failure of covered entities to provide patients with a copy of their medical records within a prescribed period of time set forth in the regulations. On top of the recent enforcement actions, reproductive healthcare has taken center stage and with it, areas of HIPAA, including the law enforcement exception, which may apply.
The learning objectives of this presentation are:
- Appreciate that the Privacy Rule and providing medical records to patients is relevant, as indicated by the 11 recent enforcement actions;
- Understand the key portions of the Dobbs Opinion as it relates to patient privacy and HIPAA; and
- Learn the latest updates on reproductive health and data tracking from both HHS OCR and the White House Executive Order, as well as the FTC.
