Maia T. Spilman, Esq.
Maia T. Spilman is an experienced transactional attorney focusing on privacy, intellectual property, and general corporate matters. She founded her own law firm in 2001 to provide top quality legal work in a cost effective and efficient manner.
Ms. Spilman makes it a point to know her clients’ businesses very well because she believes that understanding a business and its objectives are critical to providing relevant and accurate legal service. She provides legal counsel and business guidance. Ms. Spilman helps clients strategize, prioritize and evaluate deals/partnerships. She has a proven track record for closing deals.
She was in-house counsel at INgrooves, a leading technology and digital distribution company, and at BMG Music serving the global giant’s distribution company. She began her legal career at a leading New York boutique entertainment law firm; Selverne, Mandelbaum & Mintz, LLP.
Ms. Spilman is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/US as granted by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She serves on the Board of Directors of Musicians Foundation, is a member of the Copyright Society of the USA, the Puerto Rican Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association where she chaired the Small Law Firms Committee and served on the Information Technology Law Committee.
She is admitted to the Bar of the State of New York, First Department and the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Spilman received her J.D. from Northeastern University in Boston, MA and her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Fine Arts from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY.
Before attending law school, Ms. Spilman was a broadcast journalist working for news organizations in California, Texas and New York. She worked as a reporter, producer, writer and anchor in radio and television.
