Accreditation and CLE Rules for Oregon
The National Academy of Continuing Legal Education offers courses that have been fully approved for MCLE credit by the Oregon State Bar. You can find our approved programs on Oregon State Bar website here http://www.osbar.org/members/mclesearch.asp.
*Effective September 18, 2020 the Supreme Court ordered amendments to the MCLE Rules and Regulations that move the MCLE compliance deadlines to April 30th. The new deadline to electronically certify and submit MCLE reports is May 31. Oregon attorneys may complete all 45 OR CLE credit hours from National Academy of Continuing Legal Education through multiple formats including DVDs, Audio CDs, Online & iOS/Android App! Attorneys may carry over a total of 15 OR general CLE credit hours to a subsequent compliance period. Although National Academy of Continuing Legal Education reports course attendance to the Oregon State Bar within 30 days of affidavit submission, Oregon attorneys must still file a completed compliance report with the Oregon State Bar MCLE.
*Update for compliance periods ending in 2019 and after: OR attorneys must now complete a combined 1 hour course on child abuse and elder abuse reporting, 1 hour of mental health/substance abuse, 3 hours of access to justice and 5 hours of ethics credits.
For the compliance period ending in 2018, OR attorneys must to complete a combined 1 hour course on child abuse and elder abuse reporting as well as 3 hours of access to justice and 5 hours of ethics credits.
Newly admitted attorneys must take 15 hours of MCLE, including 9 hours of practical skills (4 of which must be Oregon practice and procedure) and 2 hours of ethics (one of which must be Oregon specific ethics) 1 mental health/substance abuse and a 3 credit introductory access to justice course during their first reporting period.
