The LGBT community is one which has gained many victories in recent years relating to the legal rights of its members. However, one largely overlooked subset of the LGBT community that still needs much attention is the elderly. Many LGBT seniors, after spending their lives fighting for Civil Rights, and living out and proud in the community, describe the process of searching for elder care as a feeling like they are being shoved back into the closet that they spent most of their lives escaping from. In this CLE program, Jared Reynolds will describe many of the issues, both legal and non-legal, that LGBT seniors are more susceptible to suffer from, as well as give advice on how we as attorneys can help spot potential issues, be less assumptive with our client interaction, and advocate for the LGBT population as a whole.
