Morris A. Nunes, Esq.
Morris A. Nunes is an attorney in private practice, with over forty years of experience. His practice is concentrated in businesses and associations, real estate, taxation and financial matters. He is admitted to the Bars in Georgia, Virginia, Maryland and D.C. and several appellate Courts, including the U.S. Tax Court and U.S. Supreme Court. His clients are concentrated in privately held businesses, non-profits and trade associations. Maury is regularly consulted by other firms on tax and financial matters, as well as by several CPA's. He holds the highest peer-reviewed rating (AV) from Martindale-Hubbell.
Maury holds a law degree from Georgetown University, where he concentrated on taxation, business law and real estate. He completed undergraduate work at the University of Pennsylvania, where, as a Dean's List student, he set a sort of academic record earning two degrees, with three majors in only four years: one from Penn's Wharton School with majors in finance and accounting, plus one from the College of Liberal Arts in political science. He is the author of six books on business and legal subjects, including Basic Legal Forms for Business, The Right Price for Your Business, Balance Sheet Management and Designing Profits, as well as dozens of articles, appearing in different professional and financial publications. He has written minicomputer programs for investment and tax analysis, and holds a patent on a food storage device. He has also served as an expert witness on financial, legal and real estate matters in a variety of cases.
Maury served as an Adjunct Professor at Catholic University's Columbus School of Law for over 20 years, where his courses included Agency, Partnership & Fiduciary Law, Land Transactions and Legal Accounting. He has also taught law at Georgetown University Law Center. Under that School’s aegis he was asked to design and teach what became Law for Managers in Georgetown's McDonough Business School MBA Program, which led to his joining the MBA faculty. His recorded Continuing Legal Education lectures for lawyers on NACLE and other platforms continue to receive top-tier ratings. He is also a regular guest speaker to business, professional and academic groups on legal, business and taxation topics. Maury also hosted and produced General Counsel a 42-segment cable-TV show.
In 1995 he was appointed by Virginia's Governor Allen as a member of its Virginia Board of Professional and Occupational Regulation, which oversees regulation of commercial activity in the State. In 1997 he was elected the Board's Chairman and reappointed by Governor Gilmore in 1999, remaining as Chair until his term expired in 2003. In 2001 he received the Patrick Henry Award from the Governor for outstanding board service. He is also active in several charitable and community organizations.

In 1996 he was certified by the Virginia Supreme Court as a Hearing Officer, to adjudicate cases arising within the Virginia State Government, while continuing to serve as a panel member appointed by the Virginia Supreme Court in Medical Malpractice cases. He has experience as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association in commercial and realty construction cases.
Before practicing law, he served as Controller for several businesses, as a securities analyst and as a licensed stockbroker. He is an active racquet sportsman and sailor. In his community at Lake Arrowhead, GA, he also serves as Trivia Master at monthly gatherings. He is listed in a dozen versions of Who’s Who and competing publications. Maury is widowed and remarried with two adult children.
