About This Course

This CLE program offers a comprehensive survey of animal law, exploring the evolving legal landscape that governs the human–animal relationship. Participants will examine key statutes, cases, and ordinances shaping the field, while engaging with current and emerging issues such as pet ownership, animal welfare, cruelty prevention, and property rights. The course will also consider the role of animals in domestic violence situations, the growing use of pet trusts, and ethical questions raised by our understanding of animal cognition and the human–animal bond. By the end of the session, attendees will gain practical insights into how courts and legislatures are addressing complex legal challenges at the intersection of people, animals, and the law.
