Description

With catastrophes impacting businesses on a regular basis across the country, whether man-made or natural disasters – hurricanes, wild fires, earthquakes, and so on - it is critical for the corporate attorney or litigator to be familiar with insurance law. This CLE program introduces the practitioner to fundamental concepts of property insurance law, and the more complex nuances of business interruption insurance. Critically important in any insurance claim is an understanding of the typical insurance policy’s terms, conditions, limitations, extensions, duties and obligations. Using real-life scenarios and current claims issues, this program provides the building blocks for evaluating and understanding property and business income claims. This program is presented by Arnold F. Mascali, an attorney and risk management specialist with nearly thirty years of experience in the insurance industry, managing some of the largest claims in history. Mr. Mascali walks the viewer through the property insurance policy, explaining the basis terms, and providing insight into the insurance industry. The program also details the components of a business interruption claim, the differences and significance of each major element of coverage available, and the importance of specific terms. In addition, Mr. Mascali demonstrates how the policy is triggered, a claim prepared and presented, and current legal issues that may be implicated following a catastrophe or disaster.
