Peter Howard Tilem, Esq.
Mr. Tilem’s legal career started in September of 1991 as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office in Manhattan where he was assigned by District Attorney Robert Morgenthau to the prosecution and investigation of hundreds if not thousands of criminal cases, including crimes of violence, white-collar crimes and homicides. Many of Mr. Tilem’s cases received great notoriety and public attention. Mr. Tilem was honored for his effort by various departments within the New York City Police Department including the Detective Bureau, the Organized Crime Investigation Division and the Police Academy. Mr. Tilem was also assigned to conduct educational and training classes for police officers, prosecutors and public schools. He resigned from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in the fall of 2001 as a Senior Prosecutor to pursue a career in private practice.
After resigning from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Tilem started Lenihan & Tilem, LLP a White Plains, New York law firm where he continued to handle high profile cases. In connection to one such case, Mr. Tilem appeared on television including appearances on 60 Minutes and CNN. At Lenihan & Tilem, he considerably expanded his already substantial litigation experience, appearing frequently in both State and Federal Courts on both civil and criminal cases and litigating a wide variety of real estate, commercial, estate, criminal, matrimonial and Family Court matters.
Since founding Tilem & Associates, P.C., Mr. Tilem has continued to litigate in both State and Federal Courts and has continued his representation of clients involved in high-profile cases. Mr. Tilem appears regularly in the newspaper and on television concerning his representation in such cases and as a legal commentator. Mr. Tilem has recently been retained in connection to the litigation surrounding the Estate of Russell Jones (a rapper also known as “Old Dirty Bastard” or “ODB”).
Mr. Tilem was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and was awarded his Bachelors of Arts Degrees in Economics and Biology from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mr. Tilem received his Juris Doctor (JD) from Pace University School of Law at the White, Plains, New York campus in the spring of 1991.
Mr. Tilem is admitted to practice law in the United States Supreme Court, United states Court of Appeals, Second Circuit, State Courts of Connecticut and New York and in the Federal Courts of the United States District Courts for the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. Mr. Tilem has also been admitted and appeared pro hac vice in the Federal Court in New Jersey, State Court of New Jersey, and in the State Court of Maryland.

Jasmine C. Hernandez, Esq.
Jasmine Hernandez is an associate of the firm. The firm offers exceptional legal advice and representation in a variety of legal fields, from criminal law, commercial litigation, personal injury and family law to real estate and business law. Jasmine focuses most of her practice in civil litigation and family law matters.
Jasmine’s representative experience includes:
- Representing investors in complex commercial litigation.
- Representing victims of a large Ponzi scheme.
- Representing a political party in election matters before the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, and the New York Court of Appeals.
- Representing a political party in filing a racketeering case.
Jasmine is also very passionate about family law. She focuses most of her family law practice in protecting a parent from a co-parent’s efforts to alienate the children; protecting and preserving the rights of a non-custodial parent, and drafting complex agreements that outline equitable distribution, child support, and visitation at the dissolution of a relationship. Jasmine is admitted to practice in New York.
Jasmine received her Juris Doctore, from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she was a participant of the Moot Court Competition and Mock Trial Competition. During law school, Jasmine was also the Vice President to the National Latino/s Law Student’s Association, where she organized the 15th Annual National Latina/o Law Student Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.
