Accreditation and CLE Rules for California
All courses offered by the National Academy of Continuing Legal Education are approved for CLE credit in California. National Academy of Continuing Legal Education is an accredited provider in California, Provider #11481. You can find our CLE provider listing on the California Bar website at: http://members.calbar.ca.gov/search/cert_detail.aspx?PID=11481&SpecCode=. California attorneys must take 25 CLE credits per cycle, at least 12.5 of which must be deemed “Participatory.” Attorneys can earn all 25 hours with the National Academy of Continuing Legal Education. Our online platform satisfies the participatory requirement. Additionally, courses that are taken on Audio CD, DVD, or MP3 download can also be considered participatory if accompanied by a witness affirmation form.
Credit for participating in a CLE activity may not be earned forward from one compliance period to another.
Members are required to comply online under “My State Bar Profile” www.calbar.ca.gov by attesting under penalty of perjury that the member has complied with the education requirement or is exempt and the nature of the exemption. Attorneys who are unable to comply online must contact the State Bar’s Member Services Center (888)-800-3400.
Update: The compliance deadline for all California-licensed attorneys in compliance group 3 (N-Z) for the period of 2/1/14-1/31/17 has been extended to March 1st, 2017. Members of Group 3 (last names beginning with letters N-Z) must report compliance online through My State Bar Profile by March 1, 2017 to avoid the assessment of a $75 noncompliance fee.
