About This Course
This CLE program explores the strategic and persuasive craft of opening statements and closing arguments in jury trials. These critical advocacy moments provide counsel with the opportunity to introduce the client as a person, establish credibility, and frame the narrative that will guide the jury’s understanding of the evidence and the law. Effective openings and closings require more than polished rhetoric; they demand thoughtful alignment with trial strategy, case themes, and juror expectations.
Because every case presents its own facts, personalities, and challenges, attorneys often struggle to develop a consistent approach that feels both authentic and effective. This course will provide practical guidance on structuring openings and closings, developing a cohesive case theory, and reinforcing key themes without overreaching. Participants will leave with concrete principles and adaptable techniques designed to help them present their client’s story clearly, confidently, and persuasively at the most consequential points of a jury trial.
