Description

Jury selection is the opportunity afforded to lawyers to affect the makeup of the panel which will sit in judgment of your client. It really is an elimination process rather than selection. The goal is to learn enough about the prospective jurors to decide which will be open to (hopefully favorably inclined toward), your client's position. Each attorney wants an impartial jury which will favor his/her client. In practice, skillful attorneys will balance each other out so that a neutral jury will result. The voir dire process enables the attorney to establish a bond with the jurors by speaking with them and not to them.
