About This Course
Oregon law requires attorneys to report suspected abuse of certain protected persons, yet the scope of these obligations is often misunderstood. This CLE program provides a practical overview of Oregon’s mandatory abuse reporting statutes as they apply to lawyers, including reporting duties involving children, elders, individuals with disabilities, and long-term care residents.
Participants will learn when the duty to report is triggered, what constitutes “contact” and “reasonable cause,” and how abuse may present in legal practice. The course also addresses statutory exceptions, confidentiality considerations, and the mechanics of making a report to the appropriate authorities. Designed for attorneys across practice areas, this CLE offers clear guidance to help lawyers understand and comply with Oregon’s mandatory reporting requirements.
