About This Course
Child abuse is one of the most troubling problems plaguing our society today. A significant number of children are physically, sexually and mentally abused every year. Many times, these children tell no one of their abuse. Elder abuse is a significant problem in our country as well, as people age and become more dependent on others—and potentially more vulnerable to abuse. Recognizing that attorneys are some of the most likely professionals to come into contact with victims or perpetrators of abuse, and that attorneys hold a place of respect and trust in our society, attorneys in Oregon are mandatory child and elder abuse reporters. The Oregon State Bar requires attorneys to complete regular training in child and elder abuse reporting as a part of their continuing legal education requirements.
Andria Seo, of Crew Janci LLP in Portland, Oregon, is a civil litigation attorney who specializes in representing victims of child sexual abuse against perpetrators and institutions that allowed the abuse to continue, and she will lead you through the mandatory child and elder abuse reporting laws applicable to Oregon attorneys.
