Accreditation and CLE Rules for Virginia
Update: As of Nov 1st 2011 the Virginia State Bar MCLE department has amended the CLE mandate, requiring at least 4 of the 12 credit hours per compliance period be satisfied with live interactive programming.
All courses offered by the National Academy of Continuing Legal Education have been directly approved by the Virginia State Bar MCLE Department. National Academy of Continuing Legal Education is an approved On-Demand Distance Learning Course Sponsor. The Virginia State Bar maintains a list of Approved Course Sponsors on their website at http://www.vsb.org/docs/approved_sponsors.doc. You can find us listed under "The National Academy of Continuing Legal Education."
Virginia attorneys must complete 12 credits including 2 Ethics credits per year. 8 of the 12 credits can be satisfied with On-Demand Distance Learning courses. Virginia attorneys can complete all of the 8 distance learning credits, including 2 ethics hours, with the National Academy of Continuing Legal Education using our online streaming format. The compliance period ends on October 31st. Attorneys may carryover 12 credit hours into the next compliance period including 2 Ethics credits and 8 distance learning credits. Attorneys must self-report completion of CLE. The reporting deadline is December 15th.
