About This Course
This program will address a number of ethics issues that can arise in mediation and settlement negotiations. As the field of mediation
grows, ethical opinions are needed to guide mediators in their efforts. Some of the questions that arise include:
May a mediator represent a former client as an attorney?
Is mediation a form of unauthorized practice of law for the non-attorney?
How does confidentiality square with the need to share certain information with governmental agencies?
How may a mediator guide a couple through the divorce process if they are not fully conversant with the applicable laws governing divorce?
